Realtime Captioning

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART), also known as Realtime Captioning, is used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing or who would otherwise benefit from this accommodation.

Utilizing a stenography machine, laptop computer, and software designed specifically for captioning, a highly skilled captioner listens and writes the spoken words of a speaker word for word.

The words are instantly displayed for viewing on the monitor of the laptop or other video display.
